Home Insurance
Insurance protecting you from damage to your home, office or belongings gives you security and peace of mind.
A good Building and Contents policy will cover you for damage to your property and allow you to rebuild your life by replacing your possessions in the event of a crisis.
If you own your own home, or you’re a landlord, you’ll want Building Insurance which covers the structure of the property.
Contents Insurance protects your personal property such as furniture, electricals, clothing, jewellery and possessions. This can be bought separately if you are renting and don’t need both policies.
We also provide a number of specialist policies for high worth properties, those unoccupied or undergoing works, or buildings at risk of subsidence.
If your property is at risk of flooding, we can also offer you cover. Just ask our expert team when you call.
FAQs
This is a policy which covers damage to the structure of your home such as the walls, roof and floors.
If you own your home, you will need to cover it, structurally. If you are renting, your landlord will have taken out buildings insurance for you.
It usually covers damage to fixtures and fittings too. So if you’ve got a fitted kitchen or bathroom, your insurance is likely to pay for any repairs you need.
You won’t be covered for general wear and tear and each policy will have its own exclusions (things you won’t be able to claim for). These often include damage caused by:
- frost (unless it causes damage from a burst pipe)
- leaking gutters
- insects, birds and pests
You can’t normally claim for loss or damage which happens whilst your property has been left unoccupied for more than 30 or 60 days. Many insurers will let you arrange cover if you let them know in advance.
Storm damage to gates and fences is also unlikely to be covered.
Exclusions vary from one policy to the next.
Even if you don’t own the property you are living in, you need to protect your belongings with contents insurance. Contents insurance can also protect your property away from home, if you wish (eg bikes, laptops or jewellery) regardless of where you are. You can also cover a mobile phone under your contents insurance and there is an option to cover your belongings for accidental damage too, so this is the most comprehensive insurance policy to protect your things.
Testimonial
"I am very grateful to you for so kindly helping us select the right cover and for securing different quotes. I am conscious that you very generously spent a great deal of time in helping both of us come to a final decision but I thank you most sincerely.
